Attendees will learn about the limitations of guardianship, emerging alternatives, and national standards that guide ethical, person-centered care. The session will also highlight how professional care navigation can integrate with legal and financial planning while reducing professional liability.\n \nSpeaker Bios:\n \nMaureen Williams has been with Four Seasons since 2013 and currently is Director of Care Navigation. Prior to that, she served in multiple administrative, educational, and clinical leadership roles across hospice and home health care services. A Registered Nurse for nearly 40 years, she has led Care Navigation services since 2017 ensuring that clients and others receive the right care at the right time, because that’s the right thing to do!\n \nPaula Kelley and her team at NC Guardian and Care Management provide advocacy and healthcare agency services for seniors aging without support in Western North Carolina. Her goal is to serve clients within a supported decision-making team with advance directives in place. Paula is a board member of the North Carolina Guardianship Association, member of the Aging Life Care Association and one of seven nationally certified guardians in North Carolina. Formerly a nurse practitioner, she holds a master’s degree in nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina.  \n
